Matt Kemp’s half-empty glass

Compare “The Bison” to our old Yankee friend through their age 25 seasons:

Player                                AVG/OBP/SLG

Kemp, Matthew Ryan      .285/.336/.472

Hall, Melvin                      .281/.345/.459

After age 25 Mel Hall posted a 100 OPS+, played a crappy left-field and totaled 1.4 WAR in 2999 trips to the plate. Matt Kemp is an exactly average center-fielder on the wrong side of 27 so expect a decline in his run prevention skills. For the former Brooklyn Dodgers to see a positive ROI on their $160,000,000 he must absolutely wear out NL West pitchers for his next 4000 ABs.
