The lost children of the ’94 players strike & SoTD

Montreal Olympic Stadium From Sky

Stade Olympique

Journeyman lefty Butch Henry started 91 games for 5 different teams in the ’90s. Reviewing his B-R page he was much more effective than I recall. Over 36 starts in ’94-’95 Henry posted a 162 ERA+ for the long-lost team from Montreal.

He wasn’t exactly Rod Carew with the bat (.139 career BA) but his ’94 home batting split is off ‘da hook. In 18 plate appearances at Stade Olympique that year his OBP was .625. Henry owned fellow Texan Greg Swindell going 2-2 with a double off the wall against the southpaw on June 6. A few weeks later Butch walked and singled off the venerable Pat Rapp. Henry pitched a gem against the Marlins that evening going 6-shutout innings with 5 K/1 BB.

The ’94 strike sucked!
