Did Gerardo Parra Cement a Gold Glove Last Night?
The Arizona Diamondbacks Gerardo Parra owned the Giants last night. In the D’Backs win at San Fran the right fielder threw out two Giants base-runners. Brandon Crawford was nailed at home and Brandon Belt was caught by Parra at second.
Watch his awesome highlight reel here.
Parra now has a career high thirteen outfield assists. Only Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon has more outfield assists in 2013 with fourteen. For the year, FanGraphs has Parra at +19 Ultimate Zone Rating which places him first among NL right fielders. I would say Parra’s first full year spent in right is going pretty well.
Further, since his call-up to the bigs in 2009 Parra is in a virtual tie with Jason Heyward and Michael Bourn for highest UZR among outfielders.
Kirk Gibson‘s D’Backs still have a shot at the NL wild card, if they make it they will owe much to Gerardo Parra’s gold glove play in the outfield.
